What if all you had to do was dance to raise half a million dollars for sick children with cancer? It’s what the Alpha Eta Chapter at the University of Delaware is doing on Sunday. They will be up on their feet for 12 hours straight for the annual UDance Marathon.
Their motivation: 7 year old Evan Nickle, their B+ sponsor. Brother Rachel Brown explains, “Our Chapter has our very own B+ Hero, Evan Nickle, who is thankfully 5 years in remission. Evan is the sweetest and most vibrant young boy and we are so thankful for his health. This foundation has allowed Evan and his family to pay for hospital bills and gas for their cars going back and forth to doctors visits. Evan has a younger brother, Ryan, who is his brother’s best friend. In the words of Ryan Nickle, ‘Ev’s the coolest, and sometimes I get scared he wouldn’t be here if we didn’t dance.'”
The dance marathon supports The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation which was started by a husband and wife who lost their son, Andrew, to cancer. Now all of the money raised supports medical research for families of critically ill children across the country.
Last year the university raised $551,051.61 for the foundation and the Alpha Eta Chapter wants to beat that! If you’d like to donate money to the Chapter for this event you can find the information here.
