This February I had the opportunity to attend the 2014 Philadelphia Metro Regional Conference hosted by the Zeta Iota Chapter at St. Joseph’s University. The weekend was filled with Legend….wait for it….dary events (shoutout to a great theme choice) that gave Brothers a memorable Regional Conference experience.

As always, I learned a lot from Brothers, but my three main takeaways were:

Fun and games at Regional Conferences are a guarantee. Philly Metro had their very own Olympics with medals and trophies!

  1. Brothers are creative.  During roundtable discussions Brothers had the chance to brag about the exciting events and programs they have at their home Chapters.  Conversations ranged from fun Big/Little events to successful fundraising events.  Brothers even had the opportunity to share their frustrations and get advice from their fellow Brothers.  For almost two hours the room was swirling with Brothers teaching Brothers energy!
  2. Brothers have a desire to improve their communities. Brothers had the opportunity to share their collegiate experience with local high school students by writing letters of encouragement to pursue their dreams of going to college.  For younger students, Brothers worked on short story books with colorful pictures and uplifting storylines.  I’m sure the students were excited when they realized that people in their community were rooting for them to succeed!

  3. Brothers are passionate about growing as leaders. This year twenty-one Brothers (Collegiate and Alumni) became Certificated Local Facilitators for the Leadership in Action program and are ready to bring local modules to their Chapters!  Brothers also had the opportunity to attend the regional module Managing Teams and Committees – Charting the Waters where they had the opportunity to learn how to engage their committee members in successfully accomplishing Chapter goals.

And guess what? You’re in luck! You can check out all of this awesome stuff too by attending one of the remaining Regional Conferences.
