Every Chapter is encouraged to participate in Phi Sigma Pi Spirit Week from February 8th – 12th, 2016 as part of our Countdown to 100 (found in the Centennial Planning Guide). Your Chapter should be in the process of deciding what Leadership in Action Module to request for Tuesday, and now it’s time to plan your Scholarship activity!
As it’s a huge aspect of our Tripod, we’re excited to have all of our Members participating in a Scholarship activity together on Wednesday, February 10th. What your Chapter wants to plan is completely up to you! However, we do recommend that you delegate the planning task to the Scholarship Committee. If they need a couple of ideas, here are 5 Scholarship activities that your Chapter can plan for Phi Sigma Pi Spirit Week.
Start a scholarship on your campus that honors a Founder of Phi Sigma Pi. Our Founders started this Fraternity based off of education, so honor them with a scholarship! Not only is this a great way to honor Phi Sigma Pi history, but it is also great PR and makes your Chapter look good on your campus and community.
Member-led scholarships are an easy way to get everyone involved! Phi Sigma Pi is full of diverse Members with interesting passions and hobbies. Ask your Members to pick something they’re good at doing and teach it to the rest of the Chapter! It could be making a certain dish, playing an instrument or doing a magic trick. The possibilities are endless! Make it into a scholarship opportunity and get to know your Members (and what they know) even more.
Hold a Wiki update party. Now is the time, more than ever, to update your Chapter’s history on the Phi Sigma Pi Wiki. If information is missing before your time as a Member, reach out to Alumni. It will be a great way to reconnect and learn more about your Chapter’s history.
Learn something new together. Do members want to learn how to roll sushi, decorate cupcakes or sew on their Greek letters? Maybe there’s a factory or museum in the area that your Chapter has been wanting to tour. Find new ways to try things together (and invite Alumni)!
Research the correct way to send a thank you note and then send them to Members, Alumnus/ae, and administrators that help your chapter. A simple “thank you” can go a long way. Make it a scholarship event by learning what/how to write and then write away. Maybe even learn some calligraphy to add extra flair!
Once your Spirit Week activities are planned, make sure someone from your Chapter fills out this super quick Countdown to 100! Registration Form by January 30th. Note: we have not included a box for Thursday’s event. At the conclusion of Spirit Week, your Chapter will be asked to fill out the Countdown to 100! Completion Form.
