It’s Phi Sigma Pi Award Season!

The Golden Globes, Grammys and Academy Awards might be over, but for Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, Award Season is just getting started! We know that your Chapter has planned some awesome events and done some awesome work this academic year. The proof is all over social media! Now it’s time for your Chapter to get recognized at our Centennial Convention this July in Kansas City, MO. However, you can only win an award if you submit a nomination! Here’s a breakdown of the categories and opportunities your Chapter has to bring home a shiny plaque at Convention.

Best in Region winners

The Josh and Britt Marder Excellence in National Philanthropy Award
This award is presented to a Collegiate Chapter for an outstanding National Philanthropy Service Project. Each Chapter may choose an exemplary service project that it has successfully completed during the past year and write a detailed summary of the project. It is important to note that this award is intended to recognize an outstanding project that directly benefits HOBY, our National Philanthropy.

The C.H. McClure Single Service Award
This award is presented to a Collegiate Chapter for an outstanding service project. Each Chapter may choose an exemplary service project that it has successfully completed during the past year. Note: service projects benefitting HOBY should be nominated for The Josh and Britt Marder Excellence in National Philanthropy Award. All other service projects would fall under this category.

The Charles W. Chance Excellence in Alumni Relations Award
This award is presented to the Chapter that excels in Alumni relations based upon such areas as sound communication, financial support and Alumni participation in Chapter events.

The Jeffrey L. Johnson National Interchapter Fellowship Award

This award has been established so that Chapters and individuals that have exhibited outstanding examples of fellowship towards and with other Chapters may be recognized and honored. Chapters and individuals may only be nominated by the official vote and recognition of fellow Chapter and/or National Council.

The Dr. Eldo L. Hendricks Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Programming
This award has been established to recognize Chapters that have provided exceptional education, cultural and leadership programs benefiting their Members and the community in which they live.

Claude A. Phillips Excellence in Fellowship Award
This award is presented to a Collegiate Chapter for an outstanding fellowship event. Each Chapter may choose an exemplary fellowship event that they have successfully completed during the past year and write a detailed summary of the project.

The Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award
This award is presented annually to those Chapters with outstanding Faculty or Alumni Advisors.

Distinguished Service Keys (most prestigious individual award)
These are awarded by a unanimous vote of the National Council to Members of Phi Sigma Pi who have demonstrated outstanding service on the national level to the National Fraternity. Distinguished Service Key guidelines can be found in the National Constitution.
Nominations Due: June 1, 2016
Who Should Submit: Nominations may be submitted by the National Council, National Staff or an active Chapter.

Note: once you begin filling out the form, it must be completed in one sitting. Make sure you have all of the information before you start the process (PDFs of the forms can be found here). Information you will need:

  • Academic term your event occurred in
  • Name of the event
  • Date of the event
  • Summary of the event and why your Chapter deserved the Award
  • Pictures (if applicable)
  • Marketing materials (if applicable)
