Hello from Newark!

We are happy to report that although we had a bit of rain yesterday we were able to get the outline of our project accomplished. The school and students seem genuinely excited to see the outcome, as are we. After the downpours began we had a great lunch with some scholars and were able to help out around the school for the afternoon by assisting in the classroom and grading some papers. Before we left Spark we were treated to an amazing showcase of their talents. A choir, step club, and cheer leading performance that would amaze any person. The students rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” made us all reflect on how our actions affect the world around us. Last night we continued our diner tour of northern New Jersey by visiting the Olympia Diner. Fantastic food but even better Brotherly atmosphere!

When we got back from dinner we all gathered for our next exciting assignment. Our task was to use Legos to create a structure that represented the best of New Jersey. Some included famous discoveries like Thomas Edison founding the light bulb. Others highlighted the malls, diners, sports firsts, beaches and Miss America pageant. The night ended with Brothers watching some Glee and getting pumped for painting in the am.

That’s all for now. We hope we are making you proud and representing Phi Sigma Pi to the best of our ability!
